Nissan Driving

It's incredibly scary to be behind the wheel of your automobile, only to have your steering wheel or entire vehicle shake. Once you've regained control and have stopped your vehicle, contact Gwinnett Place Nissan to schedule an appointment with our knowledgeable service department. We'll start with some of your automobile's more commonly affected parts to determine what's going wrong. This includes:

Your Engine

Assessing the function of your spark plugs will determine if everything in your engine is firing properly. If it's not, you may feel a slight shaking or vibrating while the engine is running. This feeling can vary from model to model. We usually see issues with spark plugs occurring around the 80,000-90,000 mile mark. We'll also look at your engine air filter to determine if proper airflow is going through the engine at all times.

Your Brakes/Rotors

Regularly using your vehicle and stopping/starting will wear down your brake pads and rotors. Not only can shaking occur, but you can compromise the overall safety of your car when you're driving along. If you're at the 50,000-mile marker and have never had service done to your brakes, bring your vehicle in so we can make sure everything is safely working. Your owner's manual will also give you insight into when your brakes should be serviced.

Wheel Service

While you may be able to feel the quality of the road through your steering wheel, it's not uncommon to experience shaking in your vehicle when something is wrong with how your wheels are working. Let us check out your tire rod ends, ball joints, bearings, and more.

Axles

Axles are commonly damaged (one or both simultaneously) when you are involved in an accident, when you hit something with your vehicle, or run over something very large. CV joints and your driveshaft can also be permanently damaged. Shaking may get worse as you accelerate more when you're dealing with axle problems.

Tires

Regularly rotating your tires to preserve them is ideal, but you should be using a service department that you trust. Otherwise, you could be faced with loose lug nuts or tires with low levels of air pressure. We'll make sure everything is tight, balanced, and ready to drive. We'll also let you know if it's time to invest in a new set of tires shortly. Low tire tread can affect the way your drive feels as well.

Don't put off necessary service for your vehicle if you're experiencing shaking or other concerns. Let our service technicians confirm that everything on your car is safe and secure. Give us a call today or contact us through our website to set up an appointment at your convenience.
