In 2020, the Murano does not receive significant changes. The Murano got a new design and a refreshed interior in 2019, which means the SUV carries over primarily the same for the latest model year. This year, however, consumers will find some newly standard safety features that were previously only available. This includes a standard Safety Shield 360 suite of driver-assist safety aids. These amenities are now standard on certain trims.
There are also some new trim-specific changes to note, including now-standard heated mirrors on the SV, which also comes with rear parking sensors and adaptive cruise control. This trim also gets standard traffic sign recognition. The top-level Platinum edition gets a new leather steering wheel. You also have an extended paint color list for this trim with the addition of a Super Black shade. There are some minor price increases for the trims this year, too, although the Murano offers a better value overall.
This year, there are four trims of the Nissan Murano. Inside and out, you'll find some changes that distinguish one trim from the next. All four get an innovative, attractive exterior characterized by bold, swooping lines, defined edges, and a multi-dimensional front end with a V-shape front grille and sharp creases. Showing its value, the base trim comes well-equipped with an eight-inch standard display screen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
This trim has one USB charging port in the front row and a second USB-C charging port in the back row. Versatility is a highlight of the front row with a multi-way adjustable driver's seat. Eighteen-inch wheels come standard. The second Murano trim is the SV. This trim primarily gets more standard safety equipment. Adaptive cruise control is standard on the SV. It also gets a Safety Shield 360 package with a handful of driver-assist tools. Both seats are power-adjustable, and the steering wheel is finished with leather. Sporty roof rails grace the top.
The SL gets two-inch larger wheels and heated seats. Leather upholstery is standard. The steering wheel is heated for extra comfort, while ambient lighting in the cabin adds an upscale feel. The sound system is a Bose radio with 11 speakers. This trim gets some exterior changes too, including silver-finished roof rails and LED fog lights. A new leather steering wheel is an update for the Platinum, which also has a dual-pane sunroof, ventilated front seats, and diamond-quilted leather seats.
Murano's mechanical system has some standard features and some options. The same gasoline-powered engine is standard on all four Murano trims. This engine is a 3.5L with six cylinders. Regardless of the drivetrain you choose, its power output is the same at 260 HP and 240 LB-FT of torque. An automatic transmission is standard, while you have a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Safety is the main focus of Nissan's updates in 2020. All trims get advanced airbags with side-impact, knee, and rollover support where necessary. Nissan's Safety Shield 360 package adds adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking to select trims.
